The goal for our programs is to make learning about natural and cultural history both fun and educational. Our staff specializes in creating hands-on experiences for all program participants. We facilitate educational programs both on-site at the ODC Nature Preserve and off-site at parks, schools, churches, libraries and museums.

  • Year-round programming
  • Peak program months of October and May (call early for scheduling)
  • All programs are scheduled on a first come, first served basis
  • Group sizes can range from 10 to 200 participants (some programs may be conducted with groups larger than 200)
  • Evening and weekend programs based on staff availability

School Programs

In a typical school year, our naturalists work with over 15,000 students teaching them about Michigan’s natural and cultural history. Our expert staff is capable of working with a wide range of school children both at the ODC Nature Preserve and at your school. Go to the School Programs page to learn more.

Community Programs

Our naturalist staff offer a wide range of programs open to the general community. Whether it’s a bird watching hike, Nature Hour program, wetland exploration, Nature School program, or snowshoe hike, we’re be sure to help you and your family learn more about Michigan’s amazing flora, fauna and cultural history. Homeschool Programs

ODCMG staff creates new and unique programs each year offered exclusively to homeschool families. Download the 2015-2016 ODC Homeschool Programs list as a .PDF file.

More about ODC Homeschool Programs:

  • Parents are not required to attend with their child
  • Non-participating siblings are discouraged from attending
  • Fee includes all classes for a block of programs
  • Each program has a maximum and minimum number of students accepted for the class.
  • Private programs are also available to groups of 20 participants or more.
